دكتور مهندس / محمد سيد على حسن هو مصري مقيم في اليابان ويعمل كأستاذ مشارك في إحدى الجامعات اليابانية في مدينة كيوتو العريقة "معهد كيوتو للتكنولوجيا" وكان باحثاً في الوكالة اليابانية لاكتشاف الفضاء لمدة عشر سنوات وله أبحاث عديدة في مجالات هندسة المركبات الفضائية ونظم الدفع الفضائي والمواد المركبة والنانوتكنولوجي والإبداع التكنولوجي وصاحب مبادرة مؤسسة التاء لتكنولوجيا الفقراء.
Dr Aly-Hassan completed his doctorate in aerospace structures and materials entitled “Notch Insensitivity and Toughening Mechanisms of Carbon/Carbon Composites” at Tokyo Metropolitan University in cooperation with Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) in 2003. After finishing his JSPS post doctorate fellowship (2004-2006) entitled “Reusable Thermal Protection Systems made of Ceramic Matrix Composites for Re-entry Space Vehicles” at JAXA, he continued his collaboration with JAXA as a visiting senior researcher till 2010. During his period (1999-2010) in JAXA, Dr. Aly-Hassan has participated in the following projects; HAYABUSA, ATREX Engine, Hope-X and M-V Space Rocket. In 2007, he joined the Venture Laboratory at Kyoto Institute of Technology, where he directed his research to braided, multifunctional, hybrid, green, polymeric composites and nanocomposites. This led to the development of novel composites with innovative properties and new applications for composites. Dr. Aly-Hassan is now serving as an Associate Professor at Department of Advanced Fibro-Science, Kyoto Institute of Technology, Japan. Concurrently, Dr. Aly-Hassan is serving as President at Hassan Associates Co., Ltd. Japan since 2008. Dr. Aly-Hassan has 140 published papers in several international journals and proceedings of international conferences. Dr. Aly-Hassan also was invited to address about 34 presentations (plenary, keynotes, invited talks and lectures) in several international conferences, forums and universities over the world. Dr. Aly-Hassan has participated in several international conferences and seminars as a member of the international scientific advisory and organizing committees as well as he chaired some technical sessions. Dr. Aly-Hassan is also working a reviewer in 10 international journals. Dr. Aly-Hassan was honored with some domestic and international awards among them; the 1st Runner-Up of JEC Innovation Award (Category: Process) in JEC Asia Composites Show 2009, Singapore, for research entitled “Composite Materials with Innovative Heat-Directed Properties” submitted by Hassan Associates Co., Ltd. Dr. Aly-Hassan was awarded an Honorary Professorship in July 2010 by Misr University for Science and Technology, Egypt in recognition of his outstanding research and significant contribution to composites and nanotechnology fields. Recently, finalists of JEC Innovation Award (Category: Construction and Infrastructure) in JEC Americas Composites Show 2012, USA for research entitled “Lightweight Sandwich Composite Structures using Natural Fiber Core and GFRP Skins for Roof Houses in Snowfall Regions” submitted by M.S. Aly-Hassan and H. Hamada.
