Ziad Fares

Acting Chief Financial Officer, Emirates Global Aluminium , UAE.

He has been the Director of Strategy and Business Intelligence at the same company since June 2021, and a member of the Board of Directors of Guinea Alumina Corporation.

He has over 17 years of experience in oil and gas, metals and mining, finance and strategy, specializing in delivering and executing value creation initiatives including decarbonization projects, innovation, new venture development, strategic partnerships and acquisitions.

Ziad joined EGA in 2015 as Senior Manager and was appointed in 2019 as Chief Financial Officer of Guinea Alumina Corporation, EGA’s bauxite mining subsidiary, a position he held until 2021.

He was a consultant at Boston Consulting Group between 2014 and 2015, and a partner at Booz & Company between 2012 and 2014. Prior to that, he worked at Schlumberger, which he joined in 2006 as a field engineer and then held the position of site manager until 2012.

He holds a Master's degree in Automation and Control from the Higher School of Electricity "Supélec" in France, a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the same institution, in addition to a degree in Electromechanical Engineering from the "Higher Institute of Engineers of Beirut" affiliated with "Saint Joseph University" in Lebanon, and a Diploma in Economics and Analysis of Exploration Project Risks from the "French Petroleum Institute" in France.
