Walid Al Tamimi

Director General of the Emirates Classification Authority “Tasneef” , since October 2017, United Arab Emirates. He held many positions, including: Chief Operating Officer at the same authority, Vice President for Asset Management at Abu Dhabi Ports Company between 2013 and 2016, Vice President for Project Development at the same company between 2008 and 2013, and Technical Director at Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding Company between 2004 and 2008. He was also a marine engineer in the UAE Navy between 1991 and 2004, and head of marine engineering workshops in the same entity. He has more than 20 years of experience in the maritime sector. He holds a bachelor’s degree in marine sciences in 1991 from the US Naval Academy in the United States.
