Sheikha Shamsa bint Hamdan Al Nahyan's Bio
Wife of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of the Red Crescent Authority, United Arab Emirates.
She is Assistant President of the Red Crescent Authority for Women's Affairs, Honorary President of the Emirates Autism Society, and Chair of the Supreme Committee of the Ataya Initiative.
She has several initiatives in supporting people with disabilities and caring for orphans, as she founded the International Alliance for Women’s Reproductive Health “WAHA” Foundation, the “Sheikha Shamsa Complex for Orphan Care” in Sudan, and the “Center for Orphans” affected by the “Bam” earthquake in Iran, and “Sheikha Shamsa Orphanage” in India.
She received the Veteran Personalities Award for Meritorious Volunteer Work for the year 2011.
