Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi's Bio
Ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah, Member of the Supreme Council of the Federation since 1972, United Arab Emirates.
He is the honorary president of both the Sharjah Development Forum and the Bank of Sharjah .
He served as President of “Al Qasimia University” between 2015 and 2021, and “ American University of Sharjah ” between 1997 and 2023, and “ University of Sharjah ” between 1997 and 2021, and Honorary President of the “ Arab Science and Technology Foundation ,” and Minister of Education between 1971 and 1972. The Chairman of the Municipality of Sharjah City, and the Director of the Office of the Ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah.
He participated in establishing the Board of Supporters at both the University of Exeter in 2007 and the University of Cambridge in 2004. He worked as a teacher of English and mathematics at the Sharjah Industrial School between 1961 and 1963, and was a member of the faculty of Cairo University .
He received several decorations and medals, including: “The Order of Saint Mesrob Mashtotz” in 2005, the “Order of the French Republic for Arts and Letters” in 2003, the “Human Rights Medal” in 2003 from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the Gold Medal from the organization. He won many awards, including: “Simon Master Award” in 2017, and “Rashid Award for Scientific Excellence” in 1989.
He has several historical, literary and theatrical books, including: “The Rule of Qaraqosh... Investigations into the Rule of History” in 2019, “The Head of Prince Muqrin” in 2019, and “The Book of God: The Struggle between Light and Darkness” in 2018.
He holds a doctorate in the political geography of the Gulf in 1999 from Durham University in the United Kingdom, a doctorate in philosophy in history in 1985 from the University of Exeter in Britain, and a bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering in 1971 from Cairo University.
