Shaaban Raafat Ahmed Abdel Latif

Legal Advisor and Director of the Legal Affairs Department at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry , United Arab Emirates.

He is a legal lecturer and trainer for many bodies, including: the Arab Organization for Administrative Development and the Institute for Training and Judicial Studies . He is also a fellow of the British Royal Society of International Arbitrators (CIArb), and a journalist writer specializing in economic and international affairs, and has many published articles. In the newspapers “Al-Rai” and “Al-Massa Al-Masrya”.

He has been a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for the Master’s Program in Arbitration at the Faculty of Law at the American University in the Emirates since November 2022, and a member of the International Bar Association, the Egyptian Bar Association, the Egyptian Society for Political Economy, Statistics and Legislation , and The Arab Lawyers Union , membership of the Scientific Committee for Arbitration on the Research of the Conference on the Role of Commercial Arbitration in Settlement of Intellectual Property Disputes, the Committee for Preparing the Draft Law of the Emirates Center for Sports Arbitration, and the Committee for Preparing the Executive Regulations of the Draft Law of the Center itself.

He held many positions in the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry , namely: legal researcher, head of the Legal Affairs Department, and was also head of the Legal Affairs Department in the Sharjah Center for International Commercial Arbitration, and a legal advisor in both the Jaafar Alwan and Al Jaziri Lawyers and Legal Consultants Office. “Between 2003 and 2006, and the “Ahmed and Rashid Al-Rasheed Law Office and Legal Consultations” between 1997 and 2003, and a legal researcher in the “Bujasim and Al-Maliki Office” between 1996 and 1997.

He participated in many conferences specialized in the field of commercial arbitration and dispute settlement with many research papers. He was also accredited as an arbitrator specializing in commercial, investment, real estate disputes and contracting contracts at many Arab arbitration centers and institutions, including: “Cairo Regional Center for International Commercial Arbitration” and “International Center “Mediation and Arbitration Center in Egypt,” the “Commercial Arbitration Center for the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries,” the “Abu Dhabi Center for Conciliation and Arbitration,” the “Dubai International Arbitration Center,” the “Sharjah Center for International Commercial Arbitration,” and the “Ajman Conciliation Center.” and arbitration,” and the “Islamic Center for Reconciliation and Arbitration in Dubai.”

He contributed to spreading the culture of arbitration in the Emirates, and he has three books, which are: “The arbitration judiciary in the Emirates, the principles and rulings issued by the Federal Supreme Court in Abu Dhabi and the Dubai Court of Cassation in seventeen years” in 2009, and “The extent to which it is possible to dispense with the provisions of the theory of emergency circumstances with theoretical provisions.” Subsequent injustice - a comparative study between Egyptian and French law in 2012, in addition to the book “Arbitration in Technology Transfer Contracts” in 2019, and the “Arab Encyclopedia of Arbitration” in 2020.

He holds a doctorate in law in 2019 from “ Tanta University ,” a master’s degree in civil law in 2012 from “ Menoufia University ,” and a bachelor’s degree in law in 1992 from “ Mansoura University .”
