Ricardo Fontes Santana

Chief Financial Officer of Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba ) since 15 August 2024, Kingdom of Bahrain.

He is the founder of Santana & Canela Lda, a consulting services company in Portugal since 2021.

He has 25 years of experience in the financial sector, during which he worked in the metals and mining industry in several countries including Brazil, Australia, Singapore, Netherlands, Portugal and Oman.

He was a member of the Board of Directors of the “International School of Internal Medicine” between 2023 and 2024.

He previously held a number of positions, including:

• Chief Financial Officer at Sohar Aluminium Company in the Sultanate of Oman.
• CFO at South32 in Brazil between 2015 and 2021.
• Chief Financial Officer of Essilor in Latin America between 2013 and 2015.
• Cost Manager at Telecom Italia “TIM Group” in Brazil between January and May 2005.
• Project Manager at BearingPoint Consulting in Brazil between 2001 and 2005.
• Cost Coordinator at Oi SA in Brazil between 2000 and 2001.
• Cost Analyst and SAP Systems Implementation Analyst at Shell in Brazil between 1995 and 2000.

He held several positions at BHP Billiton, including:

• Financial Director of the company in the Netherlands between 2011 and 2012.
• Finance Manager for SAP Project Implementation in Singapore between 2008 and 2010.
• Director of Planning and Reporting between 2005 and 2008.

He holds an MBA in Finance and Control from Federal Fluminense University in Brazil in 2004, and a BA in Economics from Rio de Janeiro State University in 1995. He has also completed several executive education programs at Cambridge University and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
