Wife of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the United Arab Emirates, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and daughter of the late King Hussein bin Talal. She is the founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of “ Tkiyet Um Ali ”, a non-governmental institution concerned with distributing food aid in the Arab world, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the “ International Humanitarian City ” since March 2007, and President of the Princess Haya Center for Biotechnology at the Jordan University of Science and Technology. He has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dubai Healthcare City since 2011, and a member of the International Olympic Committee. He has also been the United Nations Ambassador for Peace since September 2007. She is considered the only Jordanian woman to hold a license to drive heavy trucks, and she is also the first Arab woman. She participates in equestrian competitions in Europe at the Olympic and world levels. She held the position of President of the International Equestrian Federation from 2006 to 2014. During her work in the Federation, she launched the “FEI TV” television channel. She also held the position of Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) from 2005 to 2007, and was a founding member. For the “Global Humanitarian Forum” in Geneva. She represented the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan internationally in the equestrian sport of show jumping, and won the bronze medal for individuals in the “Arab Equestrian Games Championship” in 1992. She also held the position of director of athletes in the “Team Harmony Group for Show Jumping Equestrians,” which was founded in 1994, and in 2000. She participated in the Sydney Olympics in show jumping, and during 2002 she represented Jordan in the World Equestrian Championships in Spain. She served as a member of the Advisory Board of the Economist World Sports Conference, and served as Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Sport Accord Exhibition in 2010. She was named Equestrian Personality of the Year in 1996 by the Spanish Equestrian Federation. In February 2018, it launched the Humanitarian Logistics Data Bank. She holds a BA in Political Science, Philosophy and Economics from St. Hilda’s College at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.
