President of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals since January 19, 2020, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

He chairs the boards of Saudi Aramco Total Refining and Petrochemical Company (SATORP) , Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare Limited , and Saudi Aramco Energy Ventures .

He held several positions at Saudi Aramco , including: Senior Vice President of Operations and Business Services, and Acting Senior Vice President of Operations and Business Services from 2014 to 2016; President of the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) from 2012 to 2014; Director General of the Strategic Transformation Office from 2011 to 2012; Chief Petroleum Engineer from 2009 to 2011; Head of Exploration and Production Research and Development from 2006 to 2009; and a member of the Public Innovation Council.

He also served as President of the Dhahran Geosciences Society, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Saudi Arabia Chapter, and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the South Rub' al-Khali Company Limited (SRAK). He also served as a member of the Advisory Board for the Petroleum Engineering Department at both King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals and Heriot-Watt University.

He has received numerous awards, including the J. Clarence Karcher Award from the International Society of Exploration Geophysicists, the Lester C. Uren Award for Technical Excellence, the Distinguished Member Award from the Society of Petroleum Engineers International, and an Eisenhower Foundation Fellowship.

He holds a PhD in Philosophy and Geophysics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2000, a Master of Science in Surgery and Geophysics from the same university in 1996, a Master of Business Administration from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in 2005, and a Bachelor of Mathematics from the same university in 1989. He also completed the Management Development Program at Harvard Business School in 2005.
