Khamis Mohammed Bu Haroun Al Shamsi

He is a banking expert certified by the courts in the UAE, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi National Takaful Company “ Takaful ”, “ Abu Dhabi Islamic Securities Company ”, and “ Aram Group ” formerly known as “Sharjah Group” since December 7, 2022, and a non-executive board member of “Zeuus” since September 2021, Chairman of the Audit Committee of “ Agthia Group ” since 2020, and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Takaful Insurance Company”.

He is also a board member of several companies, including: “ UAE Banks Federation ”, “ Union of Arab Banks ” representing UAE banks since 2019, “ Agthia Group ” since 2014, “Tharawat Company”, “Union Investment Company”, “Arqaam Company”, “ Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies ”, and “ Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions ”.

Appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of “ Aram Group ” since October 7, 2021.

He held several positions at Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, including: Acting CEO between 2017 and 2019, Vice Chairman of the Bank, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, Managing Director, and Member of the Board of Directors of the Bank between 2007 and 2021. He held the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Unifund Capital for Financial Investment between 2009 and 2017, and the National Development Bank between 2007 and 2010.

He also held the position of CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Union Capital Company”, and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi National Takaful Company “Takaful” . He also held the position of General Auditor at “ First Gulf Bank ”, and was later appointed Head of Local Banking Services at “ National Bank of Abu Dhabi ”. He was also CEO at “ Commercial Bank International ”, Managing Director of “Takamul Real Estate Company”, and a member of the Board of Directors of “ Abu Dhabi National Hotels Company ”.

He has 20 years of experience in the banking and financial sector. He started his career in 1987 and held several positions at the Central Bank of the UAE , including: Assistant Director of the Internal Audit Division, Assistant Director of the Finance Department, Accountant and Auditor. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Industry , Sima Visa International, and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi National Leasing Company .

Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Accounting from the United Arab Emirates University .
