Basmah Al Mayman

Regional Director for the Middle East at the United Nations World Tourism Organization ( UNWTO ) since November 1, 2018, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

She is the liaison officer responsible for Saudi relations within the same organization, and one of the founders of tourism in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

She is the first woman from the Gukf to hold a leadership position in the World Tourism Organization, and the first woman to lead the organization's regional office in Saudi Arabia.

She served as Director of International Committees and Organizations at the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage , a senior international cooperation researcher at the same commission between 2003 and 2013, a founding member of the Program and Budget Committee of the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organization, and Vice-Chair of the Special Committee for the Preparation of the Final Draft of the World Tourism Organization Framework Convention on Tourism Ethics.

She also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the International Sustainable Tourism and Poverty Alleviation Foundation (ST-EP), representing the Middle East region, between 2013 and 2014.

She has over 19 years of experience in international and tourism work.

Forbes magazine ranked her among the "100 Most Powerful Businesswomen in the Middle East for 2023" and among the "100 Most Powerful Arab Women for 2020."

She holds an MBA from Alfaisal University in 2014, in collaboration with Oxford University, and a BA in English Literature and Linguistics from King Saud University . She has also completed several specialized courses in international relations from the Prince Saud Alfaisal Institute for Diplomatic Studies at the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs .
