Alia Al Kaabi's Bio
The first female Emirati public prosecutor and director.
She was part of the first judicial class to graduate from the United Arab Emirates University . She faced a difficulty in that the country's constitution stipulated that the judge be male, so she waited and studied the judiciary at the Judicial Institute. As soon as she finished her studies, the law changed in 2004, and it became permissible for Emirati women to be judges, so she took up the position.
In 2015, she was honored by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum , Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, along with 44 Emirati figures, in the second edition of the "Emirates Pioneers Initiative," as the first female public prosecutor in the United Arab Emirates.
